INJURY was founded by Eugene Leung in Sidney in 2004 and reflects a fascination for everything that is grotesque, dark and gloomy. A cold shiver runs down my back. With its title “Glitch” the current collection for spring and summer 2014 leads us into the mysterious world whose dreads which lie beyond our electronic screens often can’t be grasped and comprehended. Despite the usefulness of the Internet and TV, we have to admit that these media are also defined by the morbid and grotesque. Videos show us how a human being is suffering or dies. Different forums offer a platform to insane, human urges.

“Glitch” symbolizes this macabre side and appears very gloomy on the one hand. On the other hand, is is marked by a threatening character. Modern, futurist cuts and the dispensation of unnecessary decorations meet a complexity of fabrics with all kinds of features.

“Mat” is paired with “shiny”; “solid” becomes one with “light”. These attributes build an outfit where thrilling, synthetically looking fabrics have priority. These features make this fashion wearable. I’m sure that especially young, eccentric people in this world will appreciate the creations by Eugene Leung.

Eugene Leung also won my heart very quickly. I love the short, high-waisted circle skirt which is made of a silvery shining, striped fabric which perfectly takes up the topic with its futuristic structure. A cropped top’s voluminous sleeves are made of the same material and they look like they’ve been attached to this black, body-shaping top.

I would buy the shimmery, almost flaring, elegant ensemble of a training jacket and athletic black carrot pants. A very special feature, which defines the fashion, is the print which looks like a flaring monitor and perfectly fits the name “Glitch”.

If INJURY does mesmerize you, you should in no case miss it at theMercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney.
