Hello, my fellow beauty lovers,
Today’s post is going to be a tad different. I won’t talk about a specific beauty item but the news concerning the “Douglas Box of Beauty”.
I’ve been a subscriber to the Douglas BOB for almost a year now and I fell hard for it in the beginning. I loved the thought of being able to choose from a selection of products and having control over what I will get for my money. But after a little while the team behind the BOB decided to drop that smart little feature and proceeded to handing out surprise boxes.
That was the first strike.
I gotta admit that this move was really clever. The Marketing Team behind the Douglas Box of Beauty is anything but dumb.
The fact that you really have to fight for a subscription hinders a lot of girls to simply drop the box because everybody keeps hoping that one day the box will return to its former glory.
The second strike occurred on March 4th,2014. E-mails with the promise of great new developments and improvements concerning the box were sent out. The future box will be under certain themes.
Hello there, that does sound awfully familiar. Right, that’s how the Glossybox operates. In addition to this fun little fact, subscribers are now eligible for a special contest in which they can win prizes every month. Yay.
The result of these improvements shows on our bills. We can now proudly say that we pay 15€ instead of 10€ for the box. That’s an additional charge of 50%.
I will, however, wait to see how the April Box will turn out. If it’s anything like the old box, the Douglas BOB will be a NOT in the future for me.
