BMW Group and United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) started the yearly search of organizations which implement innovative projects in an intercultural context.

Ten organizations which carry out basis projects for innovative and sustainable promotion of intercultural understanding are going to be honored. The winners receive prize money and get additional advisory support by the BMW Group and UNOAC. Organizations which want to enroll have to apply online. The closing date for the application is Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at5pm.

Ten finalists are going to be invited to the 6th UNAOC Global Forum in Bali, Indonesia, which will take place in August, in order to present their projects.

The Intercultural Innovation Award was originated by UNAOC and BMW Group in 2011. The overall goal of this key action is to help organizations to help themselves, thus the UNAOC and BMW Group work together, took the time and made use their networks and connections to bring this project to life. This new cooperation model between the privat esector and an UN organization enjoys a considerable influence, because both partners ensure sustainability to the respective projects thanks to their competences.

This award was endowed with 100,500 USD in total, the winners receive 40,000 USD. The previous winners could expand their sphere of activity and increase the number of beneficiaries by 96% on average just one year after the award ceremony. 500 applications from 90 countries have taken part in this project in 2012.
