Still embraced by the memories of past Saturday, I have to admit that the Vesper Bar Berlin could become my new favorite bar. Said establishment represents a glorious location, extremely well thought-out and carefully designed down to the smallest detail. The result is a feast for the eyes and a cure and stroke for the soul. Even if I can’t consider myself a Martini fanatic, the bar offers everything the heart of a real metropolitan with an eye for beauty craves for. The Vesper gained its fame thanks to James Bond who defined the famous recipe in one of the most memorable novel scenes. The name of James Bond’s favorite drink is inspired by his love Vesper Lyndt. The entrance directly positioned on the Kurfürstendamm of this bar is figuratively luring you into its cozy rooms. This is a real Gentlemen’s Club whose female customers are as beautiful as goddesses like Ursula Andress.

Speaking of Ursula Andress, the immaculate icon who was declared beauty queen due to the movie “Dr. NO” was the first Bond Girl who drew us under her spell with her hot curves and her truly keen wittiness. Said beauty has been depicted in a kind of mosaic, looking lasciviously at the customers. Here, the top James Bond actors Sean Connery, Roger Moore and Daniel Craig are gracing the interior as well, flirting heavily with Ursula Andress who is illustrated on the wall across from them.

Well, as I said, fans of this special Martini creation can enjoy seven different versions to satisfy their desire for James Bond’s favorite drink. In order to give you a visual description I took a photo of the menu including all variations. I personally don’t enjoy Martinis all too much. Instead Mrs. Schmidt, the bar keeper, helped me pick an enjoyable cocktail. My companion ordered a Bombay Tonic East, while I chose a White Mercedes. Sounds promising, doesn’t it? And it did turn out to be an excellent choice. Paired with the melodic electro music, I let myself get carried away by heavenly alcoholic pleasure. This is the relaxing Saturday evening trance I was looking for to let go of everything which clouded my mind past week. It still fascinates me that this feeling of ultimate delight only took a barkeeper, Russian vodka, watermelon, cranberry, passion fruit and pineapple juice.

The lounge character doesn’t only lure West Berliner into the halls of the Vesper on the weekends. Also during the week you can be assured that loneliness is a word the Vesper doesn’t know. But it is never over-crowded. In my opinion, the Vesper is a bar is the ideal location for fleeing the Fashion Week turbulences. Here you can have a drink with colleagues and comrades. People from different branches can be found here. But they definitely have one attribute in common. They are all well-dressed, the dress code ranging from suits to a pair of pants by Hugo Boss. Pleasantly tasting drinks, good-looking people, but it gets even better: Smoking is allowed here. Non-smokers however don’t need to be afraid. The smell of cigarettes can barely be perceived despite the Vesper being a smoker’s lounge.

Seriously, is there anything stylish, charming and sophisticated than a bar which mirrors the lifestyle of one of the most winsome globe trotters, Casanovas and top agents of all time?
