Kat Barry, die Designerin und Kopf hinter Kat&Bee hat vor der Eröffnung ihrer eigenen Schmucklinie bei Größen wie Elle, The Guardian & Observer and Company Magazine gearbeitet. Heute werkelt sie täglich in ihrem Studio in East London und vereint ihren zeitgenössischen und doch chaotischen Stil mit Einflüssen aus ihrem Leben und Kultur. Kat&Bee kreieren originale, handgefertigte Schmuckstücke von sonderbar, gothic, wuchtig, unglaublich schön bis hin zu einfach und doch elektrisierend.
Da die Form und die Textur das Herzstück jedes Teils sind, ist die Liebe zum Detail das Wichtigste. Kat schweißt alles, was sie hat, zusammen und arbeitet meist ihre Markenzeichen, einen Totenkopf, in die Werke ein. 5 Kollektionen gibt es mittlerweile und da jede schöner ist als die andere, habe ich euch heute mal kurzerhand ALLE mitgebracht, aber ich werde es kurz halten, ich verspreche es euch 😉
Die Erste heißt ABC Brazil und ist aus dem Herbst und Winter 2012. Sie tendiert stark zur brasilianischen Kultur, deswegen auch der Name. Sie konzentriert sich auf die Fröhlichkeit und das Leben, das so typisch ist für Brasilien. Kat spielt hier vorwiegend mit satten, leuchtenden Farben.
Die 2. Kollektion, Courtallam, ist aus der Sommerkollektion des selben Jahres. Sie bezieht ihre Inspiration aus dem Süden Indiens, welches das “Spa Indiens” genannt wird. Alle Teile sind nach einem Indischen Gott benannt und sollen heilende Wirkungen auf den Träger haben.
Memento Mori ist Kat&Bee’s Debüt-Kollektion. Sie verbindet Totenköpfe einfach brillianterweise mit zarten Sachen wie Blumen und schon war eine neue Linie geboren. Memento Mori ist Latein für „Gedenke, dass du sterblich bist.“ und soll die Verletzlichkeit und Sterblichkeit eines jeden fokussieren.
Die letzte Kollektion, St. Tropez, entführt uns in den Süden Frankreich, wo die Schönheit einfach atemberaubend ist. Die Schmuckstücke sind inspiriert von den Farben des Sonnenunterganges über dem kristallblauen Meer und dem Hafen.

Kat Barry, the mastermind and designer behind Kat&Bee brings a flair for design built up from several years of working with the queen of fashion brands at Elle, The Guardian & Observer and Company magazine.
She works from her studio in East London and brings her contemporary yet chaotic style together with all elements of her life and culture. Kat&Bee create original and handcrafted pieces with designs from quirky gothic, too big and breathtakingly beautiful to simple yet electric.
As texture and shape are the keys to her design, Kat uses beads and objects to fuse them together, often with her trademark skull. There are 5 collections all together. Each one more stunning than the other so I will show them all to you guys. Trust me, it’s worth the time! 😉
The first one is called ABC BRAZIL AW12. It has a strong nod to the boldness that is the Brazilian culture and art, hence the name. It is focused on fun and happiness whilst playing with bright and bold colors. Each design has a cluster of three pieces, all with a different approach on the Brazilian culture.
The second collection, Courtallam is from the summer collection of the same year. It is inspired by the south of India, which is also known as the Spa of India. Each piece is named after an Indian Goddess which shall bring healing effects on the owner. Ha, how about that?
Memento Mori is Kat&Bee’s Debut collection. It brilliantly combined skulls with flowers. Memento Mori is Latin for “remember that you are mortal” and stands for fragility and mortality.
The last collection is called St. Tropez and captures the south of France where beauty and tranquillity lies in the breath taking sunsets and the crystal blue oceans.
