Ein Unikat nach dem anderen zeigt sich, mal ein Oberteil, mal ein Unterteil, und zusammen bilden sie die Kollektion von UPSTATE. Was zunächst an Batik erinnert, ist eine alte, japanische Tradition, eine Art und Weise, Stoffe zu färben. Dabei gibt es verschiedene Binde-, Falt- und Presstechniken zu unterscheiden. Diese, in Kombination mit unterschiedlichen Farben, ermöglichen eine unendliche Vielfalt an Mustern. Bei UPSTATE wird eben diese Technik, Shibori, verwendet, um zu färben. Das führt dazu, dass kein Kleidungsstück wie das andere sein kann.
Für die Herbst/Winter Kollektion 2013 hat sich das Label hauptsächlich auf die Farbe Blau konzentriert. In verschiedenen Farbstufen ergibt sich durch das Muster aus dem Shibori eine Pool-Atmosphäre. Zudem wird auch mit Grün- und Rosatönen experimentiert.
Die Kleidungsstücke sind an sich eher locker geschnitten. Es finden sich Hosen, T-Shirts – kurze und lange – Blusen, Kimonos, eine Bomberjacke, kurze und lange Kleider im Sortiment. Das kurze Kleid ist an der Taille mit einem Gummizug zusammengezogen und das Lange erinnert ein wenig an eine Bluse. Ansonsten sind die Designs eigentlich immer typisch auch für die Kategorien. Zusätzlich zu Kleidungsstücken bietet das Label auch Schals, Tücher, eine Clutch und eine Tasche an. Allesamt aus Stoffen, welche mit Shibori behandelt wurden.
Das Label zeichnet sich durch ihre Prints und vor allem durch ihre Technik dies bezüglich aus. Da es unzählige Techniken gibt, wie Shibori gemacht werden kann, ergeben sich natürlich auch unzählige Ergebnisse daraus. Keines gleicht dem anderen und keines kann nachgemacht werden. Mit UPSTATE kann man also sicher sein, dass man die Einzige mit dem Outfit ist.

One unique garment after another is found, a top, a bottom, and together they make the collection from UPSATE. It first reminds you of batik, an old Japanese tradition of dyeing cloth. There are numerous tying, folding and pressing techniques. These, combined with various colors, allow an endless range of shapes. This technique is used by UPSTATE to dye their cloth, it is called Shibori. It leads to every garment being absolutely unique.
For the Autumn/Winter Collection 2013 the label concentrates on the blue color. In varying color levels, through the pattern from the Shibori, a pool atmosphere is created. They further experiment with green and pink levels.
The garments have rather light cuts. There are trousers, t-shirts – short and long ones – blouses, kimonos, a bomber jacket and short as well as long dresses. The short dress is tightened at the waist with a rubber band and the long one reminds you a little of a blouse. Other than that the designs are always typical for their categories. Along with the garments, the label offers scarves, a clutch and a bag. They are all made of cloth, which was processed with Shibori.
The label is marked with its prints and especially through its technique. Because there are countless ways of how Shibori is made, there are of course countless outcomes. Each garment differs from another and they cannot be imitated. With UPSATE you can be certain, that you’re the only one with your outfit.
