Born into a prominent Nicaraguan family and growing up in Granada, Jorge was always surrounded and inspired by stylish women who piqued his interest in design and fashion. To realize his dream he decided to move to New York City and pursue his creative passion. After moving to New York City, Vega Umana began his career initially working for Porsche Design and eventually launching his own brand designing custom evening and cocktail dresses for private clients.
Jorge Vega Umana’s newest collection delivers an ease and beauty that today’s woman requires. The silhouettes are pure, minimal, refined and inventive. They slither over the body, never constricting but defining it.
Deft tailoring and subtle details evoke a sense of the bespoke. Many pieces interchange seamlessly and fabrics run the gamut from silk and tropical wool to neoprene and raffia.
A soft modern palette of vanilla, nude, blush and onyx is enhanced by an eruption of lava red.
