Florists are getting ready. Jewelry shops have stocked up and men are about to enter stage 1 of their short and steep way towards panic. Yes, it’s that time of the year again: Valentine’s Day is around the corner.  The ones amongst us lucky enough to score a date can officially start preparing themselves for the big day. Girls are usually concerned about how to capture all five senses of a guy. Of course it’s especially the look that counts. But I for one believe that if a girl manages to enchant her date with her scent alone, he is already hers. The trick is to use perfume on the right spots as well as the right amount and in the right moment to smell like Chanel, Dior, Armani or Marc Jacobs the entire night. We want our scent to tempt him, tease him but not intimidate him.

Here are some tricks how to make your perfume and with it your impact last throughout the whole date without it being too overpowering.

One of the most useful tips I have gathered over the years is not how you apply the perfume, it’s when. Spray your perfume right after taking a shower. The still moist skin will not only absorb but lock the scent in place, ensuring that it lasts way longer than it would on dry skin. To intensify the longevity you can go even one step further and moisturize your skin in between taking a shower and getting dressed. Oily complexions tend to retain fragrances longer than dry skin. One very efficient and elusive way to wear a perfume is wearing it in your hair. The alcohol in it will however damage your strands by drying them out. Rather than spraying the scent directly onto the hair, I would suggest spraying it onto your comb or brush and running it through your hair. Every single time you throw your beautiful mane back, everyone around you will stop and stare. Not only your Valentine.
