One of the most renowned art universities in Europe is located in Berlin: The UDK, Universität der Künste. The university has been in operation for more than 300 years. For more than 300 years, the UDK has been attracting students from all over the world every year. Many young people dream of studying at the UdK, only a few actually pass the admission exams. Fashion design is one of the most popular degree courses at this elite establishment. The students enjoy well structured training and individual support. In order to ensure these privileges, the university places value on cooperating with extern institutions and experts of the fashion industry to school and tutor their students under the best conditions possible.

During their studies, the students create collections in projects which also find their way to the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. In the summer 2014, the summer collections for 2015 were presented which beautifully reflect the different paths the students chose in terms of design. A very experimental approach can be seen which breathes life into the design with innovative structures.

The collection includes men’s as well as women’s fashion and is based on simple silhouettes as well as breathtaking cuts. Thanks to the diversity, it is very hard to describe the whole assortment. But you can say overall that futuristic and extravagant structures run through the collection like a golden thread. The choice of materials is extremely diverse and extraordinary: transparent, firm, heavy, traditional, innovative, colorful, plain-colored, shiny and shimmering fabrics can be discovered here. The play with different surfaces is an omnipresent stylistic device here just like the interaction between tight and voluminous cuts.

At the next Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin the students of the UdK will show you their visions of fashion for the winter season 2015. Don’t miss this spectacle!
