The inspiration for the asics x The Good Will Out “KOYO“ Gel-Lyte V stems from the autumnal colors which turn Japan into a beautiful ocean of colors. “Koyo” is what defines and marks the Japanese fall and serves as a symbol for its beauty, which can be compared to the significance of cherry blossoms called Sakura in the spring. The observation of the leaves (Momijigari) is a free time activity very popular amongst the Japanese. The Koyo season begins mid September on the northern Island Hokkaido and then will move southwards. Popular Koyo regions are Tohoku, Tokyo and Kyoto. Some trees in Tokyo and Kyoto will even stay colorful until December.

The Koyo design of the asics Gel-Lyte V consists of three different red nuances which stand for the red shades of the leaves. Another crucial color is yellow which you find on the edges of the leaves for instance. The upper material is made of Nubuck leather, while the heel is consisting of structured leather which reminds you of the lines you can find on leaves. The interior shows an all-over print made of leaves.

The KOYO Gel-Lyte V (RRP: 150€) was sold in a limited edition with special packaging at The Good Will Out  in Cologne on October 18th. A week later, on October 25th, this shoe will be released worldwide and available in selected sneaker stores.
