Electronic Arts (EA) has been one of the giants of the game publishers for a while now. One of the reasons is the extensivge assortment of game genres EA publishes. From simulators such as SIMS to the popular Commmand & Conquer strategy series and last but not least, the excellent shooters like Mass Effect and Battlefield. And racing game fans have been blessed with the Need For Speed series for decades now.

However, among all the video game publishers, it’s the numbers that make EA stand out from them. Even though EA is criticized for their expensive DLCs, strict DRM and their “Freemium” Smartphone and Tablet games, they continuously have large green numbers on their financial reports.

EA Games publishes games by top developers such as DICE Studios, Criterion Games, Maxis and BioWare. If you compared this to a publisher for authors, you could basically say that EA is the equivalent to a publisher which runs books by Rowling, Stine, Stephenie Meyer and Tolkien.

When looking at the current quarter period, you’ll see that EAs net profit has gone up a whole 51% from $222m to $335m compared to last year’s April – June quarter. Downloadable games for the PC and consoles have brought EA $71m. That’s a 90% increase in profit!

And even though EA has been “awarded” the title as the worst company within the frameworks of the „Worst company in America“  survey  voted by the readers of “The Consumerist’s” in 2012 and 2013, the numbers Electronic Arts writes in terms of profit and growth are what counts. Haters will have to gnaw on EA’s undeniable success for a long time, it seems.
