The Ethical Fashion Show could finish the last day successfully. 91 international eco brands presented their collections for the summer 2015 to an experienced fashion audience within the framework of a completely booked out fair. Besides that, the fair emphasized its meaning as an information and networking platform about the topic sustainability in the textile industry thanks to a very elaborate event schedule.

“The Ethical Fashion Show Berlin once again succeeded in confirming its forward-looking and trend-setting character. The Messe Frankfurt is presenting sustainable brands which come from a dynamic and growing market niche. In Berlin, we are presenting solutions, which are going to be essential for the future of the textile branch,” explained Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Textiles & Textile Technologies of the Messe Frankfurt, which is organizing the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin as well as the Greenshowroom. In total, 124 labels from 16 countries presented their collections at both platforms.

“The branch of the future”

Nicole Noli from the vegan Eco Concept Store Dear Goods based in Munich is absolutely sure about the following, considering the recent development: “This is the most exciting and most important fair for us in Berlin.” During the opening speech, the actress Inez Bjørg David already made it clear what the standards of eco fashion are supposed to look like. “Green fashion has to become a mainstream product”, is the opinion of the convinced eco ambassador who herself runs an enterprise selling green fashion in Berlin. This desire can now become reality, which is indicated by the fact that many conventional fashion retailers show great interest in green fashion. KaDeWe, Kastner & Öhler, Peek & Cloppenburg, Stacxkmann, Ernsting’s Family, Adler Modemärkte, Manor, Zalando, Vivanda, Goodz, Mr. Spex as well as important retailers from Warsaw, Prague, Zurich, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Oslo, Dublin, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul and Toronto visited the Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show in Berlin.

“A market of importance”

“What truly changed: The brands here at the fair seem to radiate a great deal of self-confidence. You can see that eco fashion isn’t just a niche anymore. It’s a market of importance and significance. Its relevance is increasing and lately it became politically significant”, said Renate Künast from the political party Bündnis 90/ die Grünen. The traditional highly noted podium speeches were one highlight of the Ethical Fashion Show apart from the Create Green Breakfast. The pros and contras of an obligating certificate for the textile industry to mark the eco-friendliness of clothing has been discussed by representatives coming from different fields including politics and fashion.

The next Ethical Fashion Show is going to take place from January 20th to January 22nd in 2015.

IF YOU DO IT RIGHT, IT WILL LAST FOREVER.
