“So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I’m still trying to figure out how that could be.”

The perks of being a wallflower is an epistolary novel, written by the American author Stephen Chbosky.

The 15-year-old protagonist, Charlie, tells an unknown person about his life, his first year at the high school in his letters. Charlie is a reserved and introverted boy whose only friend committed suicide.

During the course of the novel, he makes new friends and makes experiences with love, drugs and confronts himself with his fears. It’s not for nothing that there are parallels between “The perks of being a wallflower” and “The Catcher in the Rye”, because both of the books are marked by elements of the with storm and stress period. Both novels deal with uncertainty and insecurity of the youth. Today, I want to recommend “The perks of being a wallflower”, an excellent work.
