When we once started to become interested in this world’s animals, in classifying and categorizing them, we didn’t have cameras. Well, at least we didn’t have the kind of cameras that would be suitable for these purposes.
What to do? Drawing! Researchers used to be artists at the same time, because they all had to be able to illustrate animals in order to let their colleagues and prospects know what they were talking about.
