Toni Maticevski is an artist. He is a master of drapery and manipulates silhouettes in a virtuosic manner in order to create innovative, new structures that, yet, don’t influence his fashion’s wearability.  Since his debut at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Sydney in 2002, he also achieved to become popular in fashion cities such as New York City, Paris and London. This year’s Fashion Week in Sydney is another chance for you to marvel at his newest collections for fall and winter 2014/15.

When I first saw his new creations, I instantly had the feeling of being on board of the Enterprise. It seems like all these oversized peplums and stiffed, hence wrinkle-free, fabrics would lead us into the near future.

I was stunned by a black dress whose seam ends just above the ankle when I discovered its overwhelming, asymmetric, rigid valances on the front side. A zipper is integrated in order to complete this quite alien-like, extravagant design. Even though it’s combined with a sensual peplum bustier, this evening gown is still defined by sophisticated elegance, just like the rest of the collection.

My favorite outfit, however, is presented in a rocking and casual way. The ensemble which consists of leggings and a black leathered jacket stands out in its black color and with its exciting miscellaneousness, which is marked by he usage of different fabrics. The leggings are the outfit’s star thanks to their 3D texture, which is developed by some tiny leather pieces that have been attached by hand.

If our future’s fashion really looks like this, women will probably worry less about getting older.
