In 2012, Ria Keburia founded her eponymous label. This was a result of her participation at the “Be Next” contest. She is famous for working with “speaking” silhouettes which are inspired by the Japanese and the Georgian cultures. The Paris-based designer sees herself as a story-teller and her creations as words. Her stories often deal with morality and forgotten values.

In her new spring/summer collection 2014 the Japanese virtues and reluctance of a geisha are the main sources of inspiration. The charm of a warm country at the coast can be distinguished in light-blue, buttoned shirts.

Even though most of the designs have straight cuts, one can still discover some elements of volume, like the rounded back of a jacket. Two panels in a Toblerone-shape run from the breast area to the hips, forming again some volume.

Ria Keburia’s designs are very restraint, but have special cuts. This makes it easy to wear them at a daily basis and to show that these pieces aren’t off-the-peg. With her details she always creates something special.
