Today I treated myself with something absolutely creamy, piquant, aromatic and above all delicious: soup. I know there aren’t all too many people who like soup as it is considered food for old people. I still have all my teeth and yet I really can’t live without this wonderful dish. Of course, a gourmet like me can’t be satisfied with any soup. That’s why I went for something Indian.

As a soup sommelier I chose something absolutely incredible, which really ran down my throat as smoothly like oil, except that it tasted much better. One of the six reasons why you should pay the restaurant Spice India in the Uhlandstraße a visit is the chicken soup Mulligataweny. The other five reasons are the vegetable soup, the lentil soup after a South Indian recipe, tomato soup, hot and spicy soup and curry crème soup with cream cheese.

Since I felt somewhat ill and snuffy, I thought that a chicken soup definitely was the best choice. And I can tell you one thing. Even my grandma couldn’t have made a better chicken soup. The highlight, the peak of joy which eating a soup can give you is definitely the first spoonful of soup you shove into your mouth. The Mulligataweny soup did not only fill me up well, but it also seemed to appeal to all my senses and was just very delicious.

The soups in Spice India cost between €3,20 and €3,30, which is absolutely human. My ultimate favorites are the lentil soup, which you can just savor, and the hot and sour soup which was refined with sufficient chunks of lamb meat.

The hot appetizer was served in a metallic and fairly flat bowl, in which the soup was kept warm for a long time. In addition, we received three little small bowls filled with sauces to add the certain something to the soup: a yoghurt mint sauce, an oily and incredibly hot pepper essence and a sauce which I unfortunately couldn’t identify. It tasted fruity and sweet and looked a bit like ketchup. Therefore, it was probably made of tomatoes.

Well, it gets better. If you have any special demands and requests, the staff will not hesitate to fulfill your wishes. How about a tomato soup pimped with prawns additionally? Sounds awesome, doesn’t it?
