There are two things from Italy you should never underestimate: Italian food and Italian fashion.
If you stroll through the streets of Milan during the Fashion Week, you might find yourself surrounded by nothing but all kinds of different colors. The Italian fashion style is known world-wide; and a great inspiration to many designers across the globe.
With that being said, Italy is not only the birth place of Pasta, but also of Prada. Many famous distributors of luxurious items have their origins in Italy: Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Gucci – only to name a few.
It has become quite difficult to find Italians without any colorful clothing item on them; but where exactly does this love for colorful fashion come from?
Firstly, it has to be mentioned that Italy in general has an own and unique understanding of fashion. The beauty of Italian women is legendary – not only because of their physical aesthetics, but also due to their way of expressing femininity through their fashion. Therefore, colors are extremely desired to be integrated into clothing. Italian fashion is definitely not afraid to make us of abundant colors. It’s mainly about stylish percolation instead of creating a chaotic mess. Which pattern goes well with another one, which color would I like to highlight, what could make this look special, etc.?
Just like a great Italian cook loves to play with colors in his meals, so does the Italian designer aim to do the same with his fashion. All in all, Italy is continuously adapting to new fashion trends around the world in order to keep up with the fast pace.
Colorful fashion is as commonly used in Italy as Berghain-Black is worn in Berlin. Labels like Prada, Gucci, and Moschino – or younger ones like MSGM – are working on keeping this multicolored trend alive, which is not only full of joie de vivre, but also a lot more stylish than keeping it mono-colored.
