“Even if there is no proven facts that support the benefits of gold for your skin, as long as it delivers instant results, I’m happy.” That is one opinion, it is however also an opinion that more and more people share especially when it comes to trends in makeup and skin care.
The latest trend clearly goes towards Gold. Gold is absolutely everywhere. More and more brands are jumping on the bandwagon and have incorporated gold into their skin care products – so did La Prairie that has introduced its “Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold serum” to the market. The serum contains 24 carat gold and retails for $615 per ounce. The thing is, as I mentioned in a previous article about the UMO Gold Facial that there is no solid proof that proved gold’s beneficial effects on skin. So why do people still like to invest so much money in it? The reason behind the increasing popularity might be more emotional than scientific.
It is said that when applying products that contain gold, the gold will most likely dissolve on your skin’s surface and then reflect light, which gives your face the most natural glow and luminosity. And let’s face it: Most women love seeing gold on their skin, hence the huge market for complexion highlighters out there. So when people go out and splurge on Gold facials and skin care with an exorbitant amount of gold in it, they most likely are aware that they’re buying into the prestige rather than the science behind it.
