Pole dance has gotten vastly popular in the past years. Although Pole Dancing is still associated with quite negative opinions, an entire movement emerged that sees a very effective workout opportunity in this extremely demanding sport.
International Pole Dance Fitness Association chair holder Ania Przeplasko is even of the opinion that Pole Dance is to be compared with a combination of weight training, running and dancing. Yet it is still based on aesthetics and physical fitness, while it is simultaneously said to promote these two extremely valuable attributes. If you want to excel at this sport you have to bring with you a healthy balance between strength and flexibility. Do not underestimate the strength part though. It takes a lot to lift and hold your own weight for a certain period of time. On the other hand, flexibility is extremely important for the aesthetics of the workout or dance. Both of which however you can learn in no time.
It is true that this sport is very demanding. It will however definitely change and enhance your relationship to your own body. You get to know it on a whole different level. Pole dance will furthermore allow you to test yourself over and over again. I personally am convinced that there are not many sports out there that can give rise to that level of self-appreciation like pole dancing, after you have mastered it. It gives you the chance to celebrate your own body and everything it can do for you. There is moreover one thing most people can agree on: If you do it right, it can look damn sexy.
