The Moscow metro system is a whole cosmos on its own. “Palaces for the people” is what they call the train stations which are connected together through a complex branched rail network. On a daily base, millions of people employ the metro in order to get from A to B. But there are only a few people who know about the secret of this underground train system.
The Metro 2.0 is a parallel system built at the same time the regular Metro has been constructed. However, it stayed unknown for decades. Stalin had it built as a connecting tunnel between the Kremlin and different military bases so that the elite and the military could be brought to safety in the case of an atomic attack. This second metro system is huge containing entire bunkers connected through trains. In 1994, a group of urban explorers discovered this secret then.
Up to this day, the existence of the metro 2.0 is demented. Neither the press nor the government talks about the second parallel metro system in public, keeping it a mystery. There is barely any outsider who knows about where the system starts, where it ends or where an entry to the Metro 2.0 is located. To Urban Explorers, Moscow’s well guarded mystery is a kind of holy grail, but finding it is no harmless undertaking. You can only assume what hides in the hidden tunnels…
