Jacqueline Ramis is an American, but not an American designer. She pursued her studies in Milan and her sense of esthetics was essentially influenced by her new cultural experiences. She loves prints and textile design. Her style can be considered an avant-garde and relaxed, which also influenced her choice of material. She focuses on combining fashion with art, thus her own creations become artwork.
Jacqueline Ramis named her new collection “Crunch”, which stands for the development process of an insect – or maybe rather that of a human? It begins with designs reminiscent of a hard shell and ends up with the illusion of a beautiful, tender creature. The collection focuses on the projection of bug elements on a woman’s body. Jacqueline Ramis used prints and cuts to spawn the necessary forms and she limited the colors to black and white.
Her collection is beautiful and spooky at the same time – for those who fear insects. Most of her prints look just too real, while other designs solely orient themselves towards the form of wings.
