Like many people that saw “The Matrix”, I was fascinated with the whole concept of virtual reality. Sadly, I had to realize that our technology was by far not advanced enough to support such dreams. But years later, as I heard of the Oculus Rift I was mesmerized, only to be crushed again by the announcement that this new gadget would cost about 500$.

You can imagine how thrilled I was as Google announced a new “cardboard” version of a virtual reality headset. The stunt Google pulled off to make this new and thrilling technology more cheap was to cut out the display of the headset and use a normal mobile phone instead.

The new gadget is going to hit markets later this year, though a release date has not been announced yet.

Well, I guess it’s finally time to kiss our dreaded meat sack world goodbye and say hello a new digital reality. See you there!
