The demand and market for cosmetic surgeries has strongly increased during the last few years. Brazil is one of the leaders in plastic surgery with a sharp rise in procedures for men. According to the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP), the number of surgeries among men in Brazil increased from 72,000 in 2009 to 276,000 procedures in 2014.

Unlike other countries, Brazil is pretty open-minded in terms of plastic surgeries. Going under the knife is culturally accepted and also extremely popular. Most of the men undergoing these procedures are between 20 and 50, mostly getting a breast reduction, liposuction or eyelid surgeries.

Beauty is a crucial part of Brazilian lifestyle and even elder men go under the knife in order to adapt to their social and labor environment and in order to fulfill the cultural beauty standard.
