Eight Miles High

Directed by: Achim Bornhak

Starring: Natalia Avelon, Matthias Schweighöfer, Milan Peschel

They were young, they were wild, they were free …

After fleeing her boring life in Munich, young Uschi Obermaier decides to enjoy every second of the rest of her life to the fullest. Next stop: the legendary Kommune 1 in Berlin, the first politically motivated commune in Germany.

It’s not long until boredom creeps into her life once again, and she ups and moves to Hamburg. Rinse and repeat, and before long, she’s been to the US, Mexico and has taken the hippie trail to Pakistan and India. Talk about a wild nomadic life!

The resemblance of the actors to the people they were portraying in real life really struck a chord with me. Eight Miles High is a beautiful portrayal of the 60s and 70s – a period of sex, drugs and rock n roll.
