If you’ve got a particular fondness for realistic first-person shooters, I would definitely recommend you to check out the sequel to Red Orchestra, Rising Storm. Trust me, it’s a real. While in the original version you find yourself in the Battle of Stalingrad, in Rising Storm you’ll be fighting in the Pacific War. Although it’s less well known than Stalingrad, the Pacific War is in no way any less merciless or ferocious.

You can choose between playing as the US Army, the US Marine Corp, the Japanese Imperial Army as well as the special landing troops of the Japanese navy. In multiple-player battles, you fight for your life and your country.

What is truly remarkable is the historical accuracy when it comes to weapons, equipment and uniforms. In general, war is depicted very realistically, without any romanticisation of the life of a soldier. All it takes is one successful hit, and bam – you’re a goner.

Rising Storm is an atmospheric, exciting and well-made team shooter game. The only downside? It is extremely difficult to play. Beginners will struggle with easing themselves into the game, but trust me – it’s worth it.

And for those who are already familiar with this game, don’t fret! There’s a sequel in the works, and it’s supposedly based on the Vietnam War!
