Japanese fashion brand Sacai has anything but a typical look. Led by designer Chitose Abe, a glimpse into the brand reveals great art, derived from creating novelties out of familiar classics. This is a label that exercises variety and knows how to surprise with every collection. I am certainly excited by the modern combinations that stand out amongst the wealth of details.
Now let’s take a look at the new line: Autumn and Winter 2015/2016. This has it all, including combinations of the most different of materials and shapes. Leather/fur are the most striking of these, bringing about a sophisticated coolness thanks to their dark shades. My favourite combination consists of a skirt and a vest or coat, with an asymmetric hem, patch pockets and fur applications.
This winter collection leaves no wish unfulfilled, even for men. Elegance is accomplished here by complementing a pair of trousers with a jacket in leopard-prints. Similar to the ladies’ collection, dark shades are made to stand in the spotlight: black, blue, brown and green serve as the color palette here. My absolute favourite is the oversized poncho – it’s a guaranteed eye catcher, regardless of the environment.
Since 1999, Sacai has been the place for fashion-forward designs with a unique character – and it will continue to be so.
