Iron and Wine  is the recording name of the American Folk-musician Sam Bean. The former professor of film and cinematography has taken the name from a dietary supplement called Beef Iron and Wine, which is consumed by people with iron deficiency. But of course, his music is 1000 times more beneficial than any medicine.

He plays a wonderful folk-rock and, with an almost delicate but nonetheless powerful voice, sings short stories which is common for the genre. Influences of his music are taken from various cultures, so much so that one tends to believe to be hearing a Spanish Flamenco in one of his songs. The songs are often based on a rather sad or serious theme but would still manage to convey a wonderful, comforting atmosphere.

If you could arrange for it, I would recommend hearing Sam Bean live. Such a wonderfully delicate and beautiful voice only works well this way… “canned food” is simply not as good.
