Belgrade-born designer, Roksanda Ilincic, has aready achieved fame in her adopted city of London, thanks to her elegant yet clear and modern style. After graduating in the field of Architecture and Design in Belgrade, she furthered her studies at the renowned Central Saint Martins. In her creations, one can discover architectural influences well as sculptural inspirations. The often loose sculptural cuttings appear ultra-modern and classical at the same time.

Accordingly, the current S/S 15 collection also stands out. It contains the same aforementioned features while still appearing feminine. This has been made possible through the sparingly selective use of feminine details such as sheath dress-silhouettes, ruffles and floral prints. The lively and strong pastel colours are arranged in a colour block style or in oversized dots. This is not only colourful, but also conveys a kind of adolescent playfulness and joy of life, while managing to avoid the pitfall of appearing silly or childish.

Many of the cuttings are also held in a form of loosely-structured sporty silhouettes. Together with the other elements, they furnish an unexpected and very unique, yet elegant style. This appears very pleasing, indeed! Michelle Obama, First Lady of the United States, is virtually committed to a sophisticated style and has been spotted wearing Roksanda. Don’t forget also to check out net-a-porter and mytheresa, as these two online shops offer the label of Roksanda Ilincic, which is ready for display at the Belgrade Fashion Week.
