German rapper “Kontra K” enlightens us with a brand new album this year: “Aus dem Schatten ins Licht” which translates to “Out of the shadows into the light” is the latest project of Kontra K and with it he manages to step up from the image of a former “Gangster rapper” to work in the circles of a more mature youth culture. The lyrics now appear to deal with more serious topics without being pretentious. He incorporates own experiences to deliver a more authentic listening experience. With this latest album he continues on the path he started with his last single “Wölfe” which means “Wolves” and may I say that this path is a pretty good one. He does all of this without continuously copying himself. When I first listened into his new album I experienced an emotional rollercoaster, which ended with me being hyper motivated. I would suggest you listening to these new tunes during a particular long car ride, or better yet, during your workout. And if you’re interested in seeing Kontra K in person, you’re in luck! He’s on tour through Germany as we speak. In December he will be performing live on stage in Berlin, twice – so don’t miss out on this chance!
