Hey mate,
Endlich haben wir eine neue Deutsche in unserem Team bei der Arbeit. Und
ich bin echt happy darüber, dass wir uns ziemlich gut verstehen. Letztes
Wochenende hatten wir echt schönes, warmes, sonniges Wetter in Sydney.
Also wollten meine Kollegin, ihre Schwester und ich endlich mal die
niedlichen Kängurus sehen, von denen alle immer gesprochen haben. Es
gibt nämlich einen Park, 2-3 Stunden vom Stadtzentrum. Dort findet man
Kängurus und kann sie sogar füttern und streicheln!
Der beste Weg, um da hinzukommen, ist den Zug am Central Station nach
Morisset zu nehmen, falls ihr öffentliche Verkehrsmittel nutzen wollt
(meistens Gleis 9,10,11). Die Fahrt dauert etwa 2 Stunden. Danach steigt
man an der Bushalte direkt am Bahnhof in einen Bus Richtung Morisset
Park. Am besten, ihr fragt den Busfahrer, wann und wo ihr raus müsst.
Ihr müsst nämlich wissen, dass es normalerweise keine Tafelanzeigen oder
Sonstiges in den Sydney Bussen gibt. Deswegen bin ich immer total
verwirrt und nervös, wenn ich den Bus nehme. Wenn ihr euch also nicht so
gut in Sydney auskennt oder nicht 100% wisst, wo ihr raus müsst, seid
ihr am Arsch. Mein Rat also: fragt den Busfahrer! 😉
Achtet auch darauf, dass die Busfahrzeiten in Morisset ziemlich
ungünstig für den einen oder anderen sein können. Als meine deutschen
Freunde und ich nämlich da ankamen, hatten wir bereits den letzten Bus
verpasst und hätten noch mal vier Stunden bis zum nächsten warten
müssen. Und warum musste es dazu kommen? Wir Doofies stiegen eine
Station zu spät aus und mussten dann noch mal eine halbe Stunde warten
bis der nächste Zug zurückfuhr, um dann zu erfahren, dass wir den
letzten Anschlussbus verpasst hatten. Eine Alternative ist es, ein Taxi
zu rufen (Nummer steht an der Bushalte) und 15 Dollar zu zahlen. Das
taten wir und nach 10 Minuten und einer informativen Fahrt, kamen wir
endlich am Morisset Park in Neusüdwales an.
Was solltet ihr für diesen Trip sonst noch wissen?
1. Füttert die Kängurus NIEMALS mit Brot. Davon können sie sterben!
Stattdessen sollte ihr kleine Karottenstückchen mitbringen!
2. Tragt alte oder Sportschuhe, denn ihr werdet überall Känguru Kacke
finden.
3. Seid nicht zu laut und stresst die Tiere nicht.
4. Vor allem männliche Kängurus können gefährlich werden. Rennt weg,
wenn ihr merkt, dass ein Känguru sich aufrichtet, seine Position
hochstellt und Muskeln zeigt. Ansonsten könntet ihr eventuell einen K.O.
Kick bekommen. Und das tut nicht nur weh, sondern ist auch gefährlich!
5. Bringt euch genug zu Trinken mit, denn Kioske oder Ähnliches werdet
ihr da nicht wirklich finden.
Das alles hat uns der liebe Taxifahrer erzählt. Er meinte auch, dass in
den 30 Jahren, die er als Taxifahrer gearbeitet hat, nur eine Person von
einem Känguru angegriffen wurde. Das Gesicht der Dame musste damals im
Krankenhaus genäht werden. Ansonsten genießt die Zeit. Beobachtet diese
niedlichen Tierchen. Manchmal hocken sie mit weit ausgestreckten Beinen
im Gras und gucken entspannt zum Himmel. Manchmal hoppeln sie dir
entgegen, weil sie wissen, dass wir Menschen ihnen leckere Snacks
mitgebracht haben. 😉
Wir haben einige coole Fotos gemacht und waren begeistert von den
entspannten Tierchen. Was auch gut war, war, dass es nicht allzu viele
Touris gab. Im Park werdet ihr nur einzelne Grüppchen antreffen. Find
ich ziemlich gut, denn so werden die Tiere nicht zu sehr gestresst. Nach
2 Stunden durch Känguru Kot Watscheln, sind wir dann zu Fuß zurück zur
Bahnstation. Machen viele Leute und dauert „nur“ 45-60 Minuten.

The Sydney Tour – Lovely Kangaroos @ Morisset Park
Hey mate,
A new German intern has finally joined our team at work. And I’m really
happy to say that we get along amazingly.
Last weekend, we had great sunny and warm weather in Sydney. Hence, my
new colleague’s sister, herself and I wanted to see the lovely kangaroos
everyone was talking about. There is a park 2-3 hours from Sydney CBD
where you can find kangaroos and where you can even feed and pet them!
The best way to get there when you’re using public transport is to take
the train to Morisset at Central Station (usually on Platform 9,10,11).
This will about 2 hours. After that, transfer to a bus at the Bus
Interchange. It’s best to ask the driver where you have to get off. You
need to know that normally, there are no signs or displays in the Sydney
buses. That’s why I always get confused and nervous when I’m using the
bus. So, usually, if you don’t know Sydney well and don’t know where to
get off from the bus, you’re lost. Asking the drivers is my best advice
;).
Also be careful with the bus schedules at Morisset. When my two German
friends and I arrived there, we already had missed the last bus and
actually had to wait for 4 more hours for the next one. And why did that
happen? Well, we were too busy with chatting that we got off one stop
too late, which forced us to wait another 30 minute for the train back
and to miss the last bus. An alternative option is to call a taxi
(number displayed at the bus interchange) and pay 15 bucks for a ride to
our kangaroos. That’s what we did and after 10 minutes and an
informative ride, we finally reached the Morisset park, NSW.
What else should you know before getting there?
1. NEVER feed the kangaroos with bread. This could kill them. Instead,
you can bring small cut pieces of carrots!
2. Wear old or trainers, because you will find poo EVERYWHERE.
3. Don’t be too noisy and don’t stress the animals.
4. Especially the male kangaroos can become pretty dangerous. Run away
when you see a kangaroo straightening up, getting into a high posture
and building up its muscles. Otherwise, you will be knocked out, …
which is not only painful, but also very dangerous.
5. Bring enough water for yourself as you won’t find real convenience
stores or anything similar there.
That’s what our friendly taxi driver told us. He also said that in 30
years of working as a taxi driver in Morisset, only one person was
attacked by a kangaroo. After that, that person’s face had to be
stitched at the hospital … Other than that, enjoy watching these
super-cute and friendly animals. Sometimes, they are just relaxing on
the grass, stretching their legs and looking into the sky. Sometimes,
you will find them jumping towards you, because they know humans will
bring them delicious snacks ;).
We took some great pictures there and were impressed by how relax the
animals were. What was also good was that there weren’t too many
tourists. You will meet a few groups of people, which is good, because
this wouldn’t stress out the animals. After 2 hours of walking through
kangaroo poo, we walked back to the train station. Many people do that
and it takes you „only“ 45-60 minutes.
