Do you belong to the group of people that are fascinated by model making or even do it yourself? Can you say that you are able to paint British soldiers from 1812 on a 1/72 scale?

Then you should definitely continue to read this article because I’m about to present to you Willard Wigan, who carves the world’s tiniest sculptures by hand. Meanwhile even tinier sculptures have surfaced but they were all made by laser technique, which doesn’t count as it is not hand-made. The English artist was born in 1957 and according to himself he started to carve at a young age of 5. Back then he created small houses for ants.

After that, he carved hats and shoes for the ants. It belonged to his own tiny world, where he could work on the foundation of his career later on as Micro-artist. Willard Wigan always waits for the short moments in between his heart beats to carve his little sculptures made out of plastic. Whilst doing so he keeps fixated in a needle eye. He then proceeds to color them in with the use of a single hair. His preferred motives are humans, animals but also everyday items and vehicles. Many view them as the 8th wonder of the world and even Queen Elisabeth II honored him for his work. He tends to sell his art to a selected and exclusive group of people to which Prince Charles and Elton John belong to. It’s always kind of crazy to see what human beings are capable of doing.
