The Heirloom Mix range is part of a 30-piece collection for the Holidays by MAC. This collection today will be the luxury version of it and you sure as heck notice that in the prices. Behind all the gold and glitter is the world famous Prabal Gurung. This genius teamed up with MAC to create a 14-piece set for the luxury lovers amongst you guys. The collection will be available at selected MAC counters, in MAC Pro Stores and online maccosmetics.de as from December .

Outer Appearance | Prabal Gurung Luxury Holiday Collection
Gold, gold, gold – it’s practically everything you see. The packaging reminds me of a nice combination of YSL and Burberry. You can bet your last hat that that played a big part when it came to the pricing of those gems. The only thing that reminds us that this is in fact a MAC collection is the big logo below the designer’s name. Everything else is a tad more vivid, a little bit more exquisite and a whole lot more luxurious.

Overall impression | Prabal Gurung Luxury Holiday Collection
Each year MAC launches a couple of Holiday collections, always including a high-price luxury version. This time around they collaborated with Prabal Gurung and the finished work is definitely exquisite. As per usual these limited goodies will be gone very quickly. I for one hope that I can get to the Pro Store here in Cologne in time only to see the golden packaging. I’m still not sure whether or not I should purchase something. The prices are extreme this time. The lipsticks retail over in the USA for $15 usually. This one however retails for $30. The bronzer also usually cost $25, the one in this collection however costs $70. If that’s worth the money I don’t know because the prices will be even higher in Europe.
Bottom line: The products, the packaging and the marketing is impeccable. The prices? Not so much.
