mac lippenstift 2

Hello fellow beauty lovers.

Well girls, if you know me, you probably noticed a newly formed obsession in the past few months. My lipstick collection has grown quite a bit and it may or may not have to do with my frequent visits to the MAC Counter. The love for the lovely smelling treasures is so big that I think about them all the time, especially whilst I’m working of course. That is why I decided to transform these nonsense daydreams into something more productive, which is why I am sitting here, creating a useful overview on the different Finishes of MAC lipsticks.

The finish of a lipstick is basically the texture of the product and well, the look it gives your lips. MAC has 10 different finishes in their regular product range.

mac lippenstift

Satin
Lipsticks with a Satin finish look quite matte but still bring a slight shimmer on your lips. They are less drying than the matte formula, which means they aren’t as long-wearing as the matte ones. They are nonetheless highly pigmented and opaque. Popular lipsticks with a Satin finish include: Rebel and Snob.

Amplified
Amplified Finish lipsticks are quite bold and hauntingly beautiful. The colors are rich in pigment and opaque. But they do create a slight shimmer on the lips. Fusion Pink and Show Orchid are popular Amplified shades.

Amplified Creme
The Crème in the name says it all. It is a lot creamier than Satin or Matte. The colors are highly pigmented and bold and in addition to that they have a glossy texture to them. You do have to touch up along your way quite a bit. But it is still manageable. Popular lipsticks with an amplified crème finish are Impassioned, Morange and Blankety.

Matte
Matte lipsticks are so en vogue at the moment. They don’t have any sheen or shine to them and do not have any glossiness to them. Matte lipsticks are very opaque and do not provide your lips with any moisture, which is why they are a little bit drying. But you don’t have to run to the bathroom every 5 seconds to touch things up. Popular matte shades: Russian Red, Please Me and Candy Yum-Yum.

Retro Matte
This finish is very much like the matte finish only more drying and even more matte. Those are my favorites amongst all finishes because the color selection is absolutely stunning. The application is very difficult as they tug on your lips quite a bit but once they’re on your lips, they will stay on them for good. The colors are very bold, rich in pigment and opaque. Popular colors are All Fired Up, Ruby Woo and Dangerous.

Cremesheen
This finish is very glossy and moisturizing. I don’t own a single one of these lipsticks because I think they’re a little bit high maintenance. You have to touch your lipstick up quite a bit especially if you drink or eat. They are nonetheless well pigmented and the color selection is amazing. Popular colors are Lickable, Crème Cup and Cravin.

Cremesheen Pearl
This finish is not as common as the other ones. They do look like Cremesheens with a slight shimmer in them. A popular shade is for instance Coral Bliss.

Lustre
Lustre Finishes are very light, similar to a lip gloss. They do not last a very long time but can be quite convenient and neutral for an everyday use. Popular shades are Hug Me and Jubilee.

Frost
Frost finishes aren’t as popular as the rest of the finishes because of the shimmer in them. The texture leaves you with a “Metallic” Look, which can look a little bit outdated. You have to love it. The color in the tube may look appealing to you but it will look different when spread out on your lips. Popular shades however are Angel, Fabby and Costa Chic.

Glaze
Glaze lipsticks aren’t rich in color and appear very neutral on the lips. I think they look like colored lip balms. Examples: Hue and Pervette.

………………………

I know, that was quite a lot of information.
But if you are really into MAC lipsticks, you will know all of these finishes by heart.

Yours truly,

Lana
