cetaphil

Hello fellow beauty lovers.

Welcome back to Tip Tuesday, ladies and gents. Last week I created a little overview over the different skin types for you and today we’ll be making our first steps into the basics of skincare.

It’s known that we pick up dirt everywhere we go. It doesn’t matter how large or small your pores are, dirt gets absolutely everywhere, which is precisely why we need to wash our face twice a day. However, that’s something I try to tell my boyfriend for years now. ^.^

There are a whole lot of cleansers on the market, I know. But you have to know that they can be very easily categorized.

Non-foaming cleansers are usually lotions or available with a gel-like consistency. They are very mild and therefore amazing for sensitive skin. Cleansers of that calibre, like the ones from Cetaphil are very gentle, a little bit too gentle for my liking because they can’t get rid of absolutely everything on your face. For dry and sensitive skin, however, they are very good and the most important factor: they won’t irritate!

Foaming cleansers like the one in the Pureness Collection by Shiseido are very, very drying. But they often look like the perfect choice for the more oily skin on the market and on top of that they will save you a lot of money as they can be used very sparingly.

Cleansing Balms like the likes of the one by The Body Shop  with all the Chamomile extract are relatively new to me. They give off a lot of moisture and oil and because of that they’re really popular among the ones with dry skin. The texture can be compared to the one of Vaseline. They can even get rid of waterproof makeup as it melts it like butter. Unfortunately they leave nasty residues on your face so that you basically have to cleanse your face all over again.

Micellar Water ist THE product of the year, maybe of the past 2 years. They’re usually odour- and colorless and look like toner. The tiny micellar particles dissolve the dirt and makeup and leave back a cleared out face. L’Oréal brought one of those onto the market.

Oil-based Cleansers are having a comeback this year. They’re used by dry AND oily skin types. Although or maybe because they have a lot of oil to give off they clear the skin off waterproof makeup like a pro. They also provide your pores with so much oil that the brain literally shuts off the production of oil and you’re left with a skin, which won’t overproduce oil anymore. That is actually the reason why many people use oils to treat their overproduction. But you have to keep in mind that your skin needs two things, oil AND moisture. Don’t neglect the latter.

Hope it gave you a better outlook on things.

Yours truly,

Lana
