Lights which have to be turned off and on with a switch button indeed are a bit boring. But this problem will probably end soon. LEDs are absolutely en vogue! And so, it seems. That’s why most successful lightbulb manufacturers, such as Osram and Philips, have to go with the flow, relying more and more on LED lamps which additionally are becoming smarter.

The Crowdfunding platform Kickstarter offers numerous illuminants, which can be programmed and operated via smartphones. Whether this really saves time and works with all kinds of lamps is however doubtful and expensive. Nevertheless, I found a feasible and promising project. “Nanoleaf Bloom” is an advancement of the already very successful Kickstarter project “Nanoleaf” by Gimmy Chu, Tom Rodinger & Christian Yan from Toronto, Canada.

These self-appointed “Tree Huggers” added another feature to their LED Nano Leaf (this name was chosen because of the shape of the lamp which is folded out). Now, you can dim the luminous power individually or by using preprogrammed modes. Indeed, the three developers  found out that one can save a lot of money thanks to dimming, but in most of the households, there are no suitable switches. Dimming a lamp with an ordinary switch was their aim and they succeeded!

Fortunately, night owls like me are offered a perfect lighting effect: the night mode which only consumes 0.5 watts.  If you need real brightness in the morning, you can try out the 75 watts luminous power, which only consumes 10 watts.

Forget about all those boring lighting systems. Become smarter!
