Le Jardin de Versailles – avec les fleurs colorées et l’odeur l’été“ which is French and translates to The Garden of Versailles with the colorful flowers and the fragrance of summer“

Yes, a wonderful semi-couture ambient à la francaise revolutionized Germany’s capital city on Sunday evening. It was the successful fashion entrepreneur Thomas Rath who staged and organized his latest collection in a breathtaking way. Amidst a wonderful artificial scenery pervaded by French lightness his newest creations were presented to the fashion world. Inspired by the phenomenon fashion as a myth and the Sun King Louis XIV, the designer created a unique composition.

After the great success of the platform fashion, the continuation of this spectacle followed in the Schraubenfabrik in Düsseldorf this summer. This outstanding building underwent a mystical transformation following the Palace of Versailles as the great ideal and archetype. Pink light displays, a beautiful vintage flair, pastel nuances and grass green fundaments – the entire show area resembled an art installation reminding you of the French palace garden and marked by a luxurious interior design.

So began an exclusive journey through Rath’s collection. Feminine models present modern baroque couture in preciously flowing fabrics. A subtle color harmony can be observed, defined by delicate pastel and nude colors. A discreet and timid antique rose shade is accompanied by icy blue. At the same time slightly washed out colors in soft nuances grace the beautiful garments. In addition, marine blue is presented alongside with classical taupe. Luxurious silks were paired with delicate organza, finest cloqué and light cotton structures.

What particularly charmed the beholder are the detailed applications which consisted of sensual embroideries, finest glass pearls, excitingly beautiful sequins and elegant silver accessories. And yet, this fashion wasn’t simply beautiful. Instead, the entire fashion show was determined by pure extravaganza as the mannequins were given a porcelain-like makeup with slightly hazy fashion coolness to turn them into beauties of the modern Renaissance. The classical charm however seemed to be swept away when the rough aura of a masculine model conquered the catwalk. A modern dandy dressed in an extravagant style composition entered the runway. Pure nonchalance.

Expressing irresistible glamour and timeless elegance, the designer Thomas Rath enchanted famous guests who let themselves get carried away by his semi couture collection, experiencing a mental trip to France. Apart from the model Marie Amière, the star reporter Renato Leo could be admired on the catwalk. With his classical soul charm, the 25-year-old countertenor Oswald Musielski enriched the evening with magnificent musical moments, which let the garden of Versailles become one with the here and now.

Thomas Rath Trousers, the special highlight of the designer and the trouser atelier Gardeur, were presented in a way which fit the flair of Versailles perfectly. Classical elegance meets athletic easygoingness. Black and white clash with each other in virtuosic structures and interpreted art and pop-art completely anew. Natural tones and ikat patterns exuded an ethnic spirit, Soft pastels were installed in delicate prints or with paired with metallic textures and gave birth to a feminine look. Exquisite materials and lovingly chosen details declared Thomas Rath Trousers real luxury pieces.
