As a kid, I used to poke dead birds I found lying on the road with a stick, and then push them to the side of the street. Sometimes I even held a funeral for them. But that’s nothing compared to photographer Maria Ionova-Gribina, who depicts situations of dead nature in her works.
During her regular bike tours to her favorite bathing pond, she usually found dead animals on the streets. She wanted to record them for posterity as she believes that they deserve to be remembered. She embellishes them with flowers, berries, leaves and twigs and snaps photos of them afterwards. They look so soft and calm – as if they were only sleeping, right?
