Thomas Doyle has not revealed much of his person yet, but his works can probably mirror his soul, as well. As for the artistic side, one could classify him as a surreal model-maker who creates dystopian/utopian images.

He uses figures and models at 1:43 scale (or even smaller). What is normally used to build up beautiful, idyllic landscapes, is now chosen to demonstrate the complete contrast of an ideal world, something that is full of subtle malaise and despair.

Thomas Doyle’s miniature post-apocalyptic scenarios are often surrounded by a crystal ball, which seems to preserve the whole spectacle. Destroyed buildings and landscapes, floating earths and often you can also find two parallel worlds in his dioramas. One of them is coated with tranquility, peace and beauty while the other one consists of crudeness, cold and destruction.

Over and over again, you will spot those little figures with their empty, ignorant expressions as if they don’t know why they’re actually existing in such a world.
