As part of the summer festival “Ten years Bethany”, there will be a free (!) cinema presentation in the beautiful open-air cinema Kreuzberg on Saturday, June 14th. In the Oscar documentary “Searching for Sugar Man” two African music fans search for the musician Sixto Rodriguez.

While Sixto Rodriguez remained unknown and unsuccessful in America as a musician, he was a big star in South Africa, like Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan -without knowing it. The cinematic journey excites with rumors about his suicide and addresses issues related to his secret fame. With a fanatical cast and a unique soundtrack, this film is more than just a documentary. In 2013, the work won the Academy Award for best documentary.

For those who still haven’t seen this cinematic masterpiece, there will be another screening on Saturday. In the summer Festival of Arts Bethanien the film will start at 21:45 clock. You can also visit the studios and enjoy live music at the festival.
