Guys, you cannot imagine how my eyes popped when I came across the cake counter “Freckles”. As a vegan newbie I thought that cakes and tarts were a thing of my past but it looks like pretty cakes, cute cupcakes, waffles, cookies, muffins and brownies are back in my life and are here to stay.
“And that’s supposed to be vegan?” It’s hard to believe and certainly harder when you’re looking at the menu, but yes, it is indeed. Forget the tales of Vegans having to go without delicious food. In Freckles, a cute little café near the the famous Bergmannstraße in Kreuzberg every dish is vegan, some even gluten and nutfree. Those special dishes are of course labelled as such to prevent misunderstandings.
Freckles is not only the name of the café but also the trademark of its owner. The decoration is incredibly homey and invites you in for a nice cup of coffee with milk (soy of course!). So if you’re looking for a nice little treat, go to Kreuzberg!
