green smoothie

 Hello fellow beauty lovers.

Green Smoothies are currently the talk of the town. They are incredible for you to give your body and skin the vitamins they need so desperately. I for one hate eating kale or lettuce but I don’t mind drinking it because you can’t even detect it in those Smoothies. Of course I don’t use smoothies as a substitute for my normal portion of veggies in my regular meals. But they are really nice to give some love to your body and skin plus it prevents you from overeating on your regular meals.

Your body, especially your skin will appreciate the effort! J

I will show you one of my most loved recipes for a nice and sweet Green Smoothie and I really hope you will like it just as much as I do.

You’ll need:

– spinach
– 1 ripe banana
– ½ green apple
– Cilantro and parsley (If you’re not a fan of parsley, leave it out because you’ll definitely taste it in your smoothie.)
– dates
– chia seeds

I didn’t have crushed ice lying around, which is why I grabbed some of those frozen spinach cubes. It is said that frozen veggies are much more beneficial for your system as it contains a considerable amount of vitamins, way more than your normal veggies. It also prevents your blender to overheat on you, in that way you’re Smoothie will be nicely cooled without having to use ice cubes.

Then add the rest of ingredients. In this case the ripe banana, ½ green apple, dates, cilantro, parsley and chia seeds. You can add a little bit of water to thin it out. Afterwards just blend the whole mix and there you have it. A healthy Green Smoothie.

Whenever it comes to Smoothies you just go for what you see. I always mix mine without measuring anything, just go by your gut because it always depends on what you personally prefer. A good advice for beginners is portioning your ingredients following the 50/50 principle. That means 50% veggies and 50% fruits. After a while you can adjust this to your liking and reduce the fruit amount.

You can also add Agave syrup or Stevia to sweeten things up but I find that the banana does the sweetening part very well.

There are plenty of Green Smoothie recipes out there and I’ll try them all out for you. 😉  And if I come across a good one, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow for some beauty-on-a-budget tips.

Yours truly,

Lana
