At the end of May, an extraordinary exhibition will be awaiting us. A giant retrospective will be the guest of Berlin and includes 300 of his works. We’re presented handwritten texts, illustrations, diary entries, but also original costumes, notes, storyboards and set designs.

The international exhibition of the London Victoria and Albert Museum considered their presence, activity and influence in Berlin as very significant, since Bowie created his greatest works during his time in Berlin (1976-78), for example the international hit “Heros” (1977). Bowie was very close to the city. He was inspired by the 70ies in Berlin and by all kinds of cultural influences. This era inspired his artful work and also influenced personality.

Bowie is an icon who seems to be indefinable and who achieves to unify many contrasts. Each album and each tour is different and is marked by crazy outfits. He stands out with his versatility and this makes him so fascinating.

The exhibition at the Martin-Gropius-Bau offers a unique view on the mystery Bowie; it shows unpublished materials and becomes an impressive experience thanks to a multimedia display. In London, it has become a great success and we also expect a lot from the event in Berlin. You might better save some tickets, now!
