Richard Chai has a long career behind him. The label, named after the eponymous designer, was founded in 2004 with its own collection for her. A collection for him was added 4 years later. The label is based in New York, the city where he also graduated from at Parsons. At the same time he worked for Geoffrey Beene as an intern and was able to gain experiences.
He finally completed his education at the Lissa School in Paris, where he also worked as a sketcher for Lanvin simultaneously. This career led Richard Chai to various luxury brands. Armani Exchange, Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, TSE – all those brands took him to their side with each quite high positions.
His experiences maybe are the reason for is resort-collection for spring and summer 2014, which shows a well balanced line. There are colors from white to black with shades of blue and patterns. The prints are bright and playful, but also dark and organized. This line shows very casual shapes, which is created with folds and valance elements. Here, the feminine side is presented, whereas other designs are more masculine.
The resort collection for spring and summer shows its bold and filigree side but also stays convincing. White, combined with different shades of blue puts the summer into great anticipation towards Richard Chai’s designs.
