It hasn’t been a while since Ennio Morricone himself shared his most beautiful masterpieces out of his life’s work. To be a part of those who have heard the 85-year-old, Italian componist, conductor and the musical prodigy live fills me up with excitement and pride. Mr. Morricone’s soundtracks accompanied more than 500 movies, especially through movies like ”Once upon a time in the West” and ”The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” the prodigy of soundtracks, Morricone, will always be related to western movies. When I first heard the soundtrack ”The ecstasy of gold”, it just happend! The epochal feel, the raise of drama, the impuls and the voice! ”The Ecstasy” gone through my veines and I felt each and every throb of my body.

I got the chance to experience the incredible event ”My Life in Music”, which took place at the O2 World on Tuesday 11th January. Starting with a 10 minute documentation about Ennio Morricone and about, what music means to him. Next, there was silence, lights turned off and tension built up – then it began, ”The Untouchables”, a soundtrack from the same-titled movie, which received many cheers. Followed by a musical triology from ”Once upon a time in America” and more tracks from ”The Legend of 1200” and ”H2S”. There were also soundtracks from ”The Circle of Love” and ”Le clan des Siciliens”, which had a more jazzy feeling with catchy tunes. One can definitely expect goosebumps after hearing these. All these melodies will always swirl around in my memory.

People who attended this event could barely control their feelings which were brought up by these incredible compositions of sounds, including me. I clearly felt the vibrations in my ears and chest while listening to a 60 man choir. I tried to feel the concert by opening up all 5 senses. Almost every 20 minutes, the visitors were supervised by spotlights placed on top of the hall. Lights on – you’re allowed to applause. I have to say, that Ennio Morricone is definitely a Rockstar, when it comes to orchestral music. ”You’re the fucking greatest!!!!” was screamed after him. And hell yeah, he is the fucking greatest! I’ve never experienced something like that. Whisling, screaming, thunderous applause and countless encores. Every here and then there were standing ovations. And by the way, Eric Morricone entertained us for over two hours! Lastly I only want to say:”You’re the fucking greatest!”
