Beate Godager is a newcomer on the market. During her master studies in fashion design in Denmark she was lucky to get an internship at Vivienne Westwood. This led her to stay longer in Denmark and to work at the label Barbara I Gongini. Now, she refocuses on her own label and faces her competition with a lot of self-confidence. With her label she tries to depict the relationship between the body and the clothes. She wants to highlight and interpret it.

Because of her tendency of using extraordinary materials and raw-edge processing, she sees herself as an intersection between fashion and art. Her current fall/winter collection is named “White” and obviously leaves out any other colors. Her perception of the interaction between the female body and garments seems to be startlingly sallow and oddly pure. The designs themselves even support this character. They are straight-cut. The raw-edge elements point out the way along the body and form the street network of the map, the clothes, together with partly appearing transparent materials.

Beate Godager’s creations speak volumes with their reduced style and fascinate us with their pure character. The simple, yet sophisticated look of her fashion reminds us of art. The young designer wanted to examine the relation between the body and the clothing, but seems to show the relation of a human being to their environment by creating white pieces and presenting them in front of white settings. I’m looking forward to the new works of this talented designer.
