Listener is a spoken-words rock band from Fayetteville, Arkansas, founded in 2002. It is made up of the vocalist and bassist Dan Smith, guitarist Christin Nelson and drummer Kris Rochelle. The band’s genre counts as indie-rock and is characterized by exclusively spoken vocals. The lyrics and the sound of this band are kind of melancholic and deal with love, desire, doubts and time.
I never heard music in such form and I never thought that a voice that only speaks the words instead of singing them combined with a melody could be so touching. Unfortunately Listener are hardly known in Germany. Also this bands currently only tours in the USA , but still I think having a look at their page and listening to one of their songs is definitely worth the time!
