Hinter dem nachhaltigen und sehr durchdachten Label Benu Berlin, stehen die zwei geistreichen und kreativen Köpfe von Karen und Anna.
Ihre erste Kollektion, welche wir auf der Fashionweek Berlin 2013 bewundern durften, nennt sich „8 acts of Rebellion“. In ihrer Kollektion verwendeten die Designerinnen lediglich alte T-Shirts, Jeans und das ein oder andere ausrangierte Ledersofa. Der Gedanke hinter dem Konzept von Benu Berlin ist, durch das bewusste Recyclen und Verarbeiten von bereits entsorgten Materialien, auf die achtlos weggeschmissenen Ressourcen und deren Produktion aufmerksam zu machen.
Ihre eigene Arbeit bezeichnen Karen & Anna als „Street Couture“ und spiegeln damit ihren Hang zu Streetwear und insbesondere Denimstyles wieder. Wir von Readthetrieb finden den „Street Couture“ Begriff auch mehr als zutreffend, da die Outfits durch aufwendiges und detailorientiertes Geschick den Attributen von „Couture Designs“ entsprechen und doch durch Denim-Elemente einen Hauch perfekt dosierter „Street Art“ widerspiegeln.
Das Konzept ist bei Benu Berlin so rund durchdacht, dass die Damen ihre Art der transparenten, nachhaltigen Arbeit auch in ihrem Arbeitsumfeld repräsentieren möchten und haben deshalb, vor nicht allzu langer Zeit, in diesem Sommer ihren Living Showroom in Neukölln eröffnet, der unter dem Motto „Creative Melting“ arbeitet und lebt.
Die Benu Ranch, wie sie von Anna & Karen genannt wird,öffnet ihre Tore für alle kreativ Denkenden und Arbeitenden. Mit diesem Showroom erfüllen sich die Designerinnen von Benu Berlin ihren Traum von schöpferischer Arbeit im Austausch mit anderen Künstlern ihrer Art. Wir werden das nächste Mal vorbeischauen, wenn die Damen ihre Pforten öffnen.

With the sustainable and sophisticated label Benu Berlin, the two smart and creative heads Karen and Anna are presenting their works.
Their first collection – you had the chance to admire it at the Fashion Week Berlin 2013 – is called “8 acts of Rebellion”. In this collection the designers only used old t-shirts, jeans and some discarded leather sofas. The thought process behind the concept Benu Berlin is to deliberately recycle and process already thrown-out materials. – All this to call attention to all the wasted resources and their production.
Karen & Anna call their own work “Street Couture” and thus reflect their love for street wear and especially denim styles. We from Readthetrieb also find “Street Couture” is a very fitting name, because the outfits apply to the rules of “Couture Design” and yet they show a perfectly dosed bit of “Street Art” with denim adornments.
Benu Berlin’s concept is so well thought through that the ladies want to represent their transparent and sustainable work also in their working environment and thus opened a Living Showroom not too long ago in Neukölln, where everything revolves around a “Creative Melting” slogan.
The Benu Ranch, as Anna & Karen call it, has their gates opened for anyone who is willing to work and who is really creative. With their showroom the designers fulfilled their dream of sustainable work for trading it with other artists with the same mindset. The next time the ladies open their gates, we will make sure to be there!
