1977 in New Jersey geboren, studierte McGinley zunächst Grafikdesign und fotografierte nur aus Spaß mit einer Polaroidkamera seine Freunde. Später knipste er verschiedene Subkulturen New Yorks, wie Skater, Sprayer und Schwule. Auffallend war, dass die Schnappschüsse Momente und Gefühle perfekt erhaschten.
Er umgab sich zusehends mit anderen Künstlern und Fotografen, unter anderem Dash Snow und Dan Colen. Nach und nach wurden aus den Schnappschüssen inszenierte Aufnahmen, welche auf seinen Reisen quer durch die USA entstanden. Die Aufnahmen waren häufig Akt-Motive in Motels oder der Natur, welche ästhetisch wirkten und Freiheit sowie Jugend verkörperten. Seine neue Fotostrecke heißt „Yearbook“ und zeigt Aktaufnahmen von Jugendlichen. McGinley ist ein wilder und kreativer Kopf, der sich vor nichts scheut…genau deshalb sind seine Motive so authentisch und wirken so lebendig!

Born in New Jersey in the year 1977, McGinley initially studied graphics design, practicing photography just for fun with his Polaroid camera of his friends. Later on, he began to take photos of the life of different subcultures in New York such as skaters, graffiti artists as well as homosexuals. What really struck the eye is the feelings and the emotions of the moment which his photographs seemed to convey to their beholders.
McGinley socialized with many other artists and photographers including Dash Snow and Dan Colen. Bit by bit, his photographs capturing the moment became staged photography, which came to existence during his journey through the entire USA. The photographs often showed nude scenes in motels or in nature, which truly seem aesthetic and seem to incarnate freedom as well as juvenileness. His new photo series is called “Yearbook” and depicts nude photographs of young people. McGinley is a wild and creative mastermind who doesn’t fear anything. For this reason, his works seem absolutely authentic and vivid.
