Eines kann man nicht abstreiten, die Skulpturen des Süd-Koreanischen Künstlers Choi Xoo Ang sehen unglaublich echt und lebensnah aus. Man erkennt jede Falte und Pore, jedes Haar und jede Hautunreinheit ist sichtbar. Aber es ist auf demselben Level auch verstörend, wie realistisch sie sind.
Durch veränderte Proportionen und verkrümmte Körperhaltungen oder andere anatomische Inkorrektheiten wirken sie beängstigend und drücken gleichzeitig selber Trauer und Angst aus. Die Augen und Gesichter der Skulpturen sind von Pein gezeichnet. Wenn es stimmt, dass Kunstwerke die Seele des Künstlers widerspiegeln, dann ist die Seele von Choi Xoo Ang schwer gezeichnet.

You can’t deny that the sculptures from the South Korean artist Choi Xoo Ang look incredibly realistic and authentic. Every wrinkle and pore, every single hair and all skin blemishes are used as well. But at the same time, it’s quite disturbing how much it comes close to reality.
The altered proportions and the slouched posture or other anatomical incorrectness appear rather creepy but they also express sadness and fear. The eyes and the faces of the sculptures are marked with agony. If it’s true that the artwork reflects the soul of its creator then the soul of Choi Xoo Ang must be heavily burdened.
